Ever since pages of history were scribbled an amazing creator was born…no matter if the story of a falling apple turned into the law of gravity or if the curiosity of a PHD student turns the whole table ….

Yes apart from all the five important senses seeing,feeling ,smelling,tasting,hearing…he invented another sense known as sixth sense  .

Dirty hands ..? want to answer a call ?but wait !!what about the screen ?

Are you worried about the watch and dress co ordination ?

Wanna check reservation updates ? but confused with apps and websites ?

Stucked with wires and ports ? but still wished to play games …?

Don’t worry Pranav Mistry a 28 yrs old PhD student in fluid interface group at MIT media lab had developed a combined solution of all .

He discovered a way to merge both the digital and real world together through a technology .

Which is now known as sixth sense technology .

Have you ever watched the movie “x man” remember all that science behind mutation ? which gives human an extra power like teleportation ,telepathy, invisibility ,ultra sonic sound ,speed etc etc every hero and the villain has some extra ability which comes after mutations (manipulation/changes )in there genetic structure.same comes with this new sense which is not a fantasy but a real experiment with a little smart work and manipulations  in simple gadgets .

Now lets discuss what is it actually…

Sixth sense is a wearable gestural interface that augments the physical world around us with digital world and let us use natural hand gestures to interact with that information .

Basically a device that ease our use of gadgets . just imagine you just move your fingers in the air and hey what’s that you just made a wonderful painting …

Amazing right ? yes this technology is actually very amazing and easy to use ..

And guess what ? the most amazing part was its constructions .

Pranav Mistry just combined together a few  simple components ,including a camera to recognize hand gestures and off course for taking your snaps ,a projector for display (the actual output ),coloured markers /tapes to differentiate fingers for the proper recognition of commands and the most important part , the processing part that is Microsoft enable laptop or cell phone which takes command and then work on that to give the desired output .

Well that was easy ..isn’t it ? but wait we have something more ,the most amazing part of the development its main functioning part.the whole coding was designed in simple c programming using Dev c++ and MinGW was the compiler used ,also open CV libraries were used which contained all the functions required for the project .

See how a normal guy gathered simple things and showed us another level of technology …

Who says great development requires huge efforts and plenty of money to be invested …

Trust me this is the most cost efficient technology as well .its total development cost is actually a sum of 300$ which is  around 20,000 rs in Indian currency .

So ,basically this device is

Just project any map on any surface that  you wanna navigate move your fingers onto it back and forth like you do on your smart phone to zoom in and zoom out .by this you can easily access any map and get all the required details .

Just place your fingers in front of the camera like we use to define snaps in our  childhood and hey there you have your snap.

No need of different brushes ,no need to remember a list of different sizes ..ya I understand how difficult it could be to draw with mouse when you can move it till its wire extension only , but now you have entire space to draw ,paint and redecorate just move your fingers around  and draw whatever you wish to.

Place your palm or paper or anything in front of the projector and see there is a keypad same as your phone ,make calls ,type texts save contacts and many more.. .

Now tell me  isn’t that  seems like a flash back of your childhood .

See how easy is that just like playing games .

Not just that if you are also sick of reading long boring articles in newspaper like me then just  place it in front of your device and what did you get there? Yes a  video with the same news no need to wait for your turn to get remote in your hands.

Wanna check updates of your bus,train ,plane etc just place your ticket in front of the camera see you have your updates over there.why to waste time searching number of websites typing PNR numbers ,train numbers and bla bla stuff …

Not just that draw a clock on your wrist and see whats the time no need to bother about wearing watches ,no need to worry about its size ,shape, price ,colour, brand or its durability .carry your time with yourself everywhere…

Wait !! who’s that guy do I know him? No worries you have your magic wand in pocket which will display all his details over his shirt .

Not just that wanna compose a mail just draw “@ “ symbol in the air and here you have your mail box open .

Wanna play games hold a paper ,place it in front,choose your favourite game and start playing .

This super cool device was initially designed as a head wearing device attached to a cap or hell mate but later made into a pendent shape device .Which made it more convenient and easy to carry .

Now you might have queries about how come many of us had no idea about this … why is that such a cool device isn’t in trend yet? I agree all of you have valid questions ..

 

The reason is this device still has some limitations which has to be worked on .

Like projections wont work in day light .

For public use this should be made more compact and cost effective .

The projection angle should be made more adjustable .

People those who have privacy concerns are less likely to invest in such devices .

The entire device seems a bit scattered and complex so this needed to be customized into a single frame .

Probably all these limitations would be covered soon and you might have this device in your hands as well .

Since science never ends up at an edge …on every next falling there is an evolution of another new theory .

1. 3-D Metal Printing

Metal 3-D Printing holds a unique position in modern-day product development. The technology can create lighter, stronger parts, and complex shapes that aren’t possible with conventional metal fabrication methods. It facilitates tooling for conventional manufacturing technologies, reducing costs and lead times. It can also provide more precise control of the microstructure of metals. In 2017, researchers from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory announced they had developed a 3-D-printing method for creating stainless-steel parts twice as strong as traditionally made ones. 

Also in 2017, 3-D-printing company Markforged, a small startup based outside Boston, released the first 3-D metal printer for under $100,000.

Another Boston-area startup, Desktop Metal, began to ship its first metal prototyping machines in December 2017. It plans to begin selling larger machines, designed for manufacturing, that are 100 times faster than older metal printing methods.

The printing of metal parts is also getting easier. Desktop Metal now offers software that generates designs ready for 3-D printing. Users tell the program the specs of the object they want to print, and the software produces a computer model suitable for printing.

In a breakthrough that redefines how life can be created, embryologists working at the University of Cambridge in the UK have grown realistic-looking mouse embryos using only stem cells. No egg. No sperm. Just cells plucked from another embryo.

Synthetic human embryos would be a boon to scientists, letting them tease apart events early in development. And since such embryos start with easily manipulated stem cells, labs will be able to employ a full range of tools, such as gene editing, to investigate them as they grow.

Artificial embryos, however, pose ethical questions. What if they turn out to be indistinguishable from real embryos? How long can they be grown in the lab before they feel pain? We need to address those questions before the science races ahead much further, bioethicists say.

4. Dueling Neural Networks

Artificial intelligence is getting very good at identifying things: show it a million pictures, and it can tell you with uncanny accuracy which ones depict a pedestrian crossing a street. But AI is hopeless at generating images of pedestrians by itself. If it could do that, it would be able to create gobs of realistic but synthetic pictures depicting pedestrians in various settings, which a self-driving car could use to train itself without ever going out on the road.

The problem is, creating something entirely new requires imaginationand until now that has perplexed AIs.

The solution first occurred to Ian Goodfellow, then a PhD student at the University of Montreal, during an academic argument in a bar in 2014. The approach, known as a generative adversarial network, or GAN, takes two neural networksthe simplified mathematical models of the human brain that underpin most modern machine learningand pits them against each other in a digital cat-and-mouse game.

Both networks are trained on the same data set. One, known as the generator, is tasked with creating variations on images it’s already seenperhaps a picture of a pedestrian with an extra arm. The second, known as the discriminator, is asked to identify whether the example it sees is like the images it has been trained on or a fake produced by the generatorbasically, is that three-armed person likely to be real?

Over time, the generator can become so good at producing images that the discriminator can’t spot fakes. Essentially, the generator has been taught to recognize, and then create, realistic-looking images of pedestrians.

The technology has become one of the most promising advances in AI in the past decade, able to help machines produce results that fool even humans.

 

5. Babel-Fish Earbuds

In the cult sci-fi classic The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, you slide a yellow Babel fish into your ear to get translations in an instant. In the real world, Google has come up with an interim solution: a $159 pair of earbuds, called Pixel Buds. These work with its Pixel smartphones and Google Translate app to produce practically real-time translation.

Google Translate already has a conversation feature, and its iOS and Android apps let two users speak as it automatically figures out what languages they’re using and then translates them. But background noise can make it hard for the app to understand what people are saying, and also to figure out when one person has stopped speaking and it’s time to start translating.

Pixel Buds get around these problems because the wearer taps and holds a finger on the right earbud while talking. Splitting the interaction between the phone and the earbuds gives each person control of a microphone and helps the speakers maintain eye contact, since they’re not trying to pass a phone back and forth.

HTC Exodus 1: Blockchain phone specs, price and release date

Smartphone manufacturer HTC is taking a major leap into the cryptocurrency ecosystem. They are stepping into the wider blockchain industry. With HTC U12 and U12+ about to be unveiled in a couple of days, HTC has a lot of surprises for its users in its pocket. On 15th of this month, HTC unveiled a website that showcases the HTC Exodus. And HTC unveiled the Exodus today at web3summit.

Furthermore, there is only one company that has completely succeeded in making a fully blockchain powered device. Swiss company Sirin-Labs unveiled there first phone Finney and HTC is joining the race with Exodus. Finney has a 12-megapixel rear camera with low-light f/1.8 aperture and an 8-megapixel 85-degree wide angle front facing the camera. It is powered by a 3,280mAh battery with fast charging support. Connectivity features include Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and LTE, among others. Specs wise the phone packs pretty much enough but what’s worth mentioning is what happens over the internet. The blockchain phone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. It has a 6-inch display at 18:9 aspect ratio, 402ppi and 1500:1 contrast ratio. The phone features 128GB built-in storage and 6GB RAM.

The HTC Exodus 1, aka the ‘blockchain phone’, is nearly ready to enter the wild, with the company has now confirmed the specs of its forthcoming cryptocurrency handset. Check out the TEASER.

What exactly HTC wants Exodus to do

Chen, who now holds the title of CDO (Chief Decentralized Officers), is the head of the firm’s crypto and blockchain related initiatives. “Through the Exodus, we are also excited to be supporting underlying protocols such as Bitcoin, Etherum, Dfinity and more,” Chen wrote in a blog post accompanying the announcement. Still, a vast majority of HTC fans want something new and innovative from them in a long time.

He also wrote that “I want to see a world where the end consumers can truly own their data (browsing history, identity, assets, wallets, emails, messaging, etc) without the need for central authorities. There is a lot of work ahead of us, but I believe the mobile hardware layer can contribute significantly to our new decentralized world.” With Facebook’s Data Leak controversies, HTC might end up taking the lead in the smartphone race with this.

I suppose we have to wait for a month or two to get more info on these type of devices. This revolutionary product might change the way we use the internet today. I don’t know exactly if I wanna buy one. It’ll be fun to use DApps and to hover over the decentralized web tbh. If anything does happen to your device, you can breathe easy, as HTC has imbued the Exodus with a social-themed security protocol that sees users nominate several contacts to hold a piece of a unique security key – and only bringing all of these pieces together will unlock the device.

Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon 675 with new Kryo 460 CPU

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is continuing to bring together global manufacturers and operators, along with software and hardware technology vendors, to strategize and discuss industry trends and technology developments with their Snapdragon chipsets. This year’s summit promises to be one of the best ever, featuring wireless leader keynotes, breakout sessions, multiple exhibits and networking events, all showcasing the latest technology, and much more. Qualcomm made a lot of advancements in the last few months. And the tech giant made steady announcements at their 4G/5G Summit at Hong Kong.

In the Keynote, Qualcomm’s President Mr. Cristiano Amon talks about how 5G is nearing deployment, with global trials underway and deployments planned in the coming months. He continues about how the next generation of wireless will allow virtually every industry to deliver advanced connectivity and increased intelligence across the rapidly evolving wireless edge. It is essential that the broader ecosystem pursues the wireless and computing technologies that will provide the foundation for the coming transformation. To just have an overview read to it, focus on the key points as per Qualcomm:

  • Qualcomm optimized the Snapdragon 675 for mainstream use.

  • The first smartphones using the Snapdragon 675 will ship in Q1 2019.

  • The Snapdragon 675 is Qualcomm’s third mid-range processor announced within the past six months.

Overview

Qualcomm makes one of the finest processors in the industry and as it turns out they also focus on the mid-range consumers. It comes out on the top with the 710 followed by the 670 in the mid-range category. Now that it is history, Qualcomm announced a new processor in the 600 range. The Snapdragon 675 is a really interesting processor but not for all the reasons you are thinking. In terms of where it fits in the overall Qualcomm’s mid-range processor, is somewhat between the 670 and the 710. And for a little humor, the Snapdragon 675 has got a slightly worse Adreno 612 GPU in it compared to the 615. The Snapdragon 675 has got the same modem as the 670, the exact DSPs and the image processors, but with a bit of enhancement.

So, why is the Snapdragon 675 so interesting? Well, it is using the 4th Generation Kryo 460 CPU Design. And as per our research and Qualcomm’s announcement, no other processor in its lineup uses the 4th Gen CPU. Well, the Kryo core 1st Gen design is found in-house in the Snapdragon 820 and 821. Then the 2nd Gen Kryo which was built with the Cortex technology is found in the Snapdragon 835 and finally, the 3rd Gen is found in Snapdragon 845.

Snapdragon 675 + 4th Gen Kryo Core

Snapdragon 675 is basically a Cortex A76 coupled together with a Cortex A55. This new Architecture built on ARM Cortex offers a 20% overall performance improvement, optimized across 2 performance and 6 efficiency cores. So Qualcomm is using the 4th Gen with this 6+2 configuration. So it still is an Octa-core chipset but with 2 cores dedicated for higher stability and results and 6 for better power efficiency. So, more interestingly,  what this tells us is that the next 800 series will be using the 4th Gen Kryo.

The 675 is not only filled with upgrades. For example, the 675 is constructed with an 11nm process whereas the Snapdragon 670 had a 10nm process. The GPU has been downgraded from an Adreno 615 to an Adreno 612, too. With that said, Qualcomm assured us that the Snapdragon 675 performs considerably better than the Snapdragon 670. With built-in game enhancements, for example, reduce “janks” or stutters by over 90 percent during gameplay.

The Comparison of Snapdragon(s)

So let’s look at the rest of the Snapdragon 675 and detail out how it differentiates from the 670 and the 710 chipsets. So as you can see all the 3 processors use the 6+2 setup. The performance core gets a boost with the A76 instead of the A75. When it comes to GPU the 675 lags behind and as it turns out the 710 has got the best GPU. But as per Qualcomm, they have been tweaking it for a better gaming performance. The differences which can only be pointed out when we will receive a device. It supports the LPDDR4X where the X stands for even more power efficient than the standard LPDDR4.

Now that they all showcase the same DSPs across is a good thing. With the 250L, it gets the 480fps HD Slo-Mo that will pump-up any camera. The modem is exactly the same as the rest. It’s like Qualcomm didn’t even bother making an upgrade to it. Focusing on the important part, the 675 uses Samsung’s fabrication process. So, this will be built by the looks of it exclusively on Samsung’s fabrication plans.

Qualcomm’s Worse is actually Better

So coming back to the GPU here, the 675 boasts an Adreno 612 instead of a 615 or a 616 on its brothers. Qualcomm is actually saying that they have heavily optimized the gaming performance. This does mean that the overall performance will be better as compared to the rest. Qualcomm also suggests that on a list of particular games that they tried, this performs much better. They get 90% less ‘JANKS’, whatever that means.

It might get a better user experience while gaming. Qualcomm is known to make certain tweaks for a better gaming performance and experience. The list of games does suggest that it focuses on a great diversity of games. This is actually good stuff from Qualcomm. Qualcomm also states that it works closely with both mobile game and game engine developers to improve the gaming UX on Android, though this isn’t unexpected given how they’ve collaborated with game studios such as NetMarble for Snapdragon flagship chip releases in recent years.

Although that the 600 range continues to be very strong with support for 6 cameras, 3 on the front and 3 on the back. So everything from super-res zoom to telephoto capture to specialized Bokeh mode is now available on the 675. So there’s a bunch of things that Qualcomm has put into their processors that make them very useful. They did a great deal of work for the mid-range smartphones. Expecting really strong developments from the manufacturers now. That’s it for now.
